According to Dr Michael E. Rudder, there are a few strategies that parents and teachers can adopt in teaching a language. For example:-

1) Listening; one can use

TV (sitcoms, news, sports), Movies (subtitles), Radio, Songs (karaoke song lyrics)

2) Speaking; we can encourage

Conversation with partner or groups, debate or speech contests, English lunches or parties, expose learner to opportunities to practice new language

3) Reading;

Comics or cartoons, horoscope, newspapers and magazines, topics of interest to the learner eg. if the young learner like to keep snake as pet, most probably books related to snake will interest him.

4) Writing;

Emails, journals, penpals, contests…
